Crisis Accommodation
VHA provides temporary emergency housing for Veterans and their families who are vulnerable to homelessness. We understand life can be unpredictable and there are times when circumstances are out of an individual’s control.
This is where VHA steps in to provide a stable foundation for Veterans to evaluate their options before making any decision. Veterans and their families will be able to use our emergency accommodation whilst assessing their situation and deciding on the best course of action for support and for their future. This may involve connecting with support agencies to provide well-being support, gaining assistance to relieve financial strain, or getting help to find permanent accommodation.
Veterans and their families in our crisis accommodation are usually:
- homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness.
- Needing accommodation due to relocation for hospital or medical reasons (particularly applicable for regional families).
- In the process of assessment of claims with DVA/other agencies.
- Relocating and need accommodation during the gap between their permanent housing.
- Unhoused due to legal reasons such as court visits, visitation orders, and separation.
