Volunteering with VHA
Our volunteers are a vital part of how we support veterans and their families — strengthening our communities and helping us deliver more than just housing. From a friendly conversation with a tenant to hands-on support at our properties, every contribution helps create connection, stability, and a true sense of belonging.
We work with a clear purpose:
When you volunteer with us, you become part of a mission-driven community grounded in <other words>. Whether you can give a few hours or commit regularly, your time directly contributes to better housing outcomes and stronger support networks for veterans.
Volunteering is more than giving back — it’s about being part of something bigger. You’ll build connections, develop skills, and see firsthand the difference that stable housing and community support can make in a veteran’s life.
Ways you can get involved:
- Supporting veteran tenants and strengthening local communities
- Assisting at properties with light maintenance or gardening
- Helping at community events and fundraising initiatives
- Contributing professional skills across governance, advocacy, or operations
- Engage in grassroots fundraising on our behalf
- Social work / student placement
Every helping hand strengthens our capacity to support more veterans — because together, we’re working to end veteran homelessness
“Loneliness is a disease that has a big impact on people, especially as they age.”
– Lorna, VHA Volunteer, Noble Park
Through her regular visits, Lorna brings warmth, conversation, and connection to veterans in our community. Her friendly check-ins not only brighten days but also help tenants access services and support they might not have known were available.
It’s a powerful reminder that sometimes the smallest gestures — a listening ear, a caring smile — can make the biggest difference.
Thank you, Lorna, for helping us build community, one visit at a time.
